He&#8217;s Launching the Orbital Laser Satellites!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>  <a href=\"https:\/\/media0.giphy.com\/media\/12xlw7x5xd3wpq\/200.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media0.giphy.com\/media\/12xlw7x5xd3wpq\/200.gif\" style=\"cursor: pointer; float: right; margin: 0px 0px 10px 10px;\" \/><\/a>I am referring to Elon Musk, who is in the process of   <a href=\"https:\/\/arstechnica.com\/information-technology\/2021\/01\/spacex-adds-laser-links-to-starlink-satellites-to-serve-earths-polar-areas\/\">adding lasers to his massive StarLink internet satellite constellation<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>  I understand thatthe official line is that this a technology that involves   communications capability, and no ability to do damage, but he would say that,   wouldn&#8217;t he<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s look at the check list:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Trace of a vaguely German accent<\/li>\n<li>Eccentric megalomaniac<\/li>\n<li>Massive wealth<\/li>\n<li>Space lasers<\/li>\n<li>Expensive cars<\/li>\n<li>Legions of fanatical followers <\/li>\n<li>    <strike>White Persian cat<\/strike>  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> For the love of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, <b><span style=\"font-size: 100%; font-variant: small-caps;\">hide the Persian Cats!!!!<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Of course, I know that the added lasers are to facilitate satellite to satellite communications, and that they are not a part of any weapons system \u2026\u2026\u2026 Yet.<\/p>\n<p>But you have to admit that the Bond Villain aspects of Musk&#8217;s life are striking.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am referring to Elon Musk, who is in the process of adding lasers to his massive StarLink internet satellite constellation.
