Ron Johnson on Friday moved to block emergency survival checks to millions of Americans, citing concerns about the federal deficit. Johnson\u2019s move not only follows his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.senate.gov\/legislative\/LIS\/roll_call_lists\/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=116&amp;session=2&amp;vote=00080\">vote<\/a> for a massive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/business\/2020\/04\/28\/federal-reserve-bond-corporations\/\">$500 billion corporate slush fund<\/a> \u2014 it also follows his successful effort to enrich himself with a giant tax cut that expanded the deficit.<\/p>\n<p>Johnson, who is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opensecrets.org\/personal-finances\/net-worth?cid=N00032546&amp;year=2018\">worth<\/a> an estimated $39 million, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ronjohnson.senate.gov\/public\/index.cfm\/2017\/12\/johnson-ensures-lower-rate-for-pass-through-businesses\">led the fight<\/a> in 2017 to create special tax breaks for so-called \u201cpass-through\u201d businesses, or real estate shell companies. Johnson was one of several Republican senators who backed the last-minute provisions inserted in the bill \u2014 and who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibtimes.com\/political-capital\/republican-senators-will-save-millions-special-real-estate-tax-break-2630037\">listed<\/a> income from those pass-through entities on their federal financial disclosure forms. <\/p>\n<p>Based on those federal filings, Johnson stood to <a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.americanprogress.org\/content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/10070908\/Tax-Bill-Memo-Economic-Final.pdf\">personally reap up to $205,000<\/a> from the tax cut provisions he championed. <\/p>\n<p>\u2026\u2026\u2026<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, Johnson <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/ron-johnson-hawley-stimulus-checks-e5bff298-9207-407e-bcc2-79caa833c37c.html\">moved to block<\/a> a bipartisan proposal, from Vermont Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders and Sen.
