It appears that someone at a private ICE prison and a doctor colluded to engage in mass sterilizations of their prisoners<\/a>.<\/div>\n

My guess is that this is a combination of greed and bigotry. The doctor and his accomplice want to sterilize brown women, and that they are getting over-reimbursed for what can be a routing procedure, there have been news reports of for-profit hysterectomy mills since at least the 1970s.<\/p>\n

Still, it looks like we have a bunch of Josef Mengele wannabees here.<\/p>\n

This is beyond horrifying:<\/p>\n

Several legal advocacy groups on Monday filed a whistleblower complaint on behalf of a nurse at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention center<\/a> documenting \u201cjarring medical neglect\u201d within the facility, including a refusal to test detainees for the novel coronavirus and an exorbitant rate of hysterectomies being performed on immigrant women. <\/p>\n

The nurse, Dawn Wooten, was employed at the Irwin County Detention Center (ICDC) in Georgia, which is operated by LaSalle Corrections, a private prison company. The complaint was filed with the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) by advocacy groups Project South, Georgia Detention Watch, Georgia Latino Alliance for Human Rights, and South Georgia Immigrant Support Network. <\/p>\n

Multiple women came forward to tell Project South about what they perceived to be the inordinate rate at which women in ICDC were subjected to hysterectomies \u2013 a surgical operation in which all or part of the uterus is removed. Additionally, many of the immigrant women who underwent the procedure were reportedly \u201cconfused\u201d when asked to explain why they had the surgery, with one detainee likening their treatment to prisoners in concentration camps. <\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Yes, this sounds a lot like Nazi eugenics programs. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I met all these women who had had surgeries, I thought this was like an experimental concentration camp. It was like they\u2019re experimenting with our bodies,\u201d the detainee said. <\/p>\n

According to Wooten, ICDC consistently used a particular gynecologist \u2013 outside the facility \u2013 who almost always opted to remove all or part of the uterus of his female detainee patients. <\/p>\n

\u201cEverybody he sees has a hysterectomy\u2014just about everybody,\u201d Wooten said, adding that, \u201ceverybody\u2019s uterus cannot be that bad.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve questioned among ourselves like goodness he\u2019s taking everybody\u2019s stuff out\u2026That\u2019s his specialty, he\u2019s the uterus collector<\/span><\/b>. I know that\u2019s ugly\u2026is he collecting these things or something\u2026Everybody he sees, he\u2019s taking all their uteruses out or he\u2019s taken their tubes out. What in the world<\/span><\/b>.\u201d <\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It’s clear that someone wanted to sterilize people because of the color of their skin.<\/p>\n

The term for this is, “Good German”<\/p>\n

Wooten \u2013 who is being represented in the matter by the Government Accountability Project \u2013 also confirmed that many of the detained women told her that they didn\u2019t understand why they were being forced to have the procedure. She explained that some of the nurses who didn\u2019t speak Spanish obtained consent from detainees \u201cby simply googling Spanish.\u201d <\/p>\n

The complaint details several accounts from detainees, including one woman who was not properly anesthetized during the procedure and heard the aforementioned doctor tell the nurse he had mistakenly removed the wrong ovary, resulting in her losing all reproductive ability. Another said she was scheduled for the procedure but when she questioned why it was necessary, she was given at least three completely different answers. <\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The private prison company has denied any wrongdoing.<\/p>\n
