{"id":176245,"date":"2020-07-30T19:16:00","date_gmt":"2020-07-31T00:16:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2020\/07\/30\/my-bizarre-take-on-the-veepstakes\/"},"modified":"2020-07-30T19:16:00","modified_gmt":"2020-07-31T00:16:00","slug":"my-bizarre-take-on-the-veepstakes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2020\/07\/30\/my-bizarre-take-on-the-veepstakes\/","title":{"rendered":"My Bizarre Take on the Veepstakes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While she is a long shot to be Joe Biden&#8217;s choice for running mate, I consider Stacy Abrams to be the worst of all the candiates whose names have been mooted thus far.<\/p>\n<p>I find Stacy Abrams is completely unacceptable because of her choices in literature.<\/p>\n<p>If you think that I am joking, I am <a href=\"https:\/\/www.southernpoliticalreport.com\/2015\/10\/15\/house-minority-leader-abrams-talks-new-georgia-project-gig-economy-and-upcoming-session\/\">NOT joking<\/a>, as Abrams is a big fan of Ayn Rand&#8217;s allegorical novel <i>Atlas Shrugged<\/i>, which I consider to be a major red flag:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">One other unexpected detail: In an interview with Womenetics, a B2B services firm that specializes in helping women professionals, Ms. Abrams named three favorite books: <i>The Institutionis<\/i>t, <i>Ender\u2019s Game<\/i> and\u2026 <b><span style=\"font-size: 100%; font-variant: small-caps;\"><i>Atlas Shrugged<\/i><\/span><\/b>, not exactly a book at the top of most Democrat reading lists. Womenetics called her a \u201cserial entrepreneur\u201d and clearly she has a passion for business. She loved Helen Keller\u2019s <i>The Story of My Life<\/i>, <i>The Count of Monte Cristo<\/i>, <i>Silas Marner<\/i>, <i>Little Women<\/i>,<i> Jane Eyre<\/i>, <i>Ender\u2019s Game<\/i>, Toni Morrison\u2019s <i>Beloved<\/i>, <i><b><span style=\"font-size: 100%; font-variant: small-caps;\">Atlas Shrugged<\/span><\/b><\/i> (\u201cBut not for the Paul Ryan reasons.\u2009.\u2009.\u2009.\u2009There was something about how [Ayn Rand] highlighted the capacity of a person to be more than.\u201d) She loved mythology. \u201cGreek, Norse, Roman, Cherokee.
