{"id":176406,"date":"2020-06-23T22:50:00","date_gmt":"2020-06-24T03:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2020\/06\/23\/primaries-tonight\/"},"modified":"2020-06-23T22:50:00","modified_gmt":"2020-06-24T03:50:00","slug":"primaries-tonight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2020\/06\/23\/primaries-tonight\/","title":{"rendered":"Primaries Tonight"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>And while we do not have final results, there are way too many absentee and mail-in ballots for that, we do have some results.<\/p>\n<p>Final results should be available in the next week or so:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2020\/06\/23\/us\/elections\/results-kentucky-primary-elections.html?action=click&amp;module=ELEX_results&amp;pgtype=Interactive&amp;region=Navigation\">Amy McGrath is leading Charlie Booker by about 8%<\/a>, in the Kentucky Senate race, so it&#8217;s likely that Schumer&#8217;s candidate about nothing will go on to lose to Mitch McConnell.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2020\/06\/23\/us\/elections\/results-new-york-house-district-12-primary-election.html\">Incumbent Carolyn Maloney is up by 2% over Suraj Patel<\/a> in NY-12 which firmly places this one in the, &#8220;Wait for the absentee ballots,&#8221; category.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2020\/06\/23\/us\/elections\/results-new-york-house-district-15-primary-election.html\">Ritchie Torres has beaten Ruben Diaz<\/a> in NY-15, which is great, because Diaz (with the encouragement of Andrew Cuomo) caucused with the Republicans in the New York State Senate to prevent Democratic Party control of the legislative body.&nbsp; (Also, Diaz was endorsed by the cop union, which makes this even more delicious.)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2020\/06\/23\/us\/elections\/results-new-york-house-district-16-primary-election.html\">Jamal Bowman has crushed incumbent Eliot Engel<\/a> in NY-16, ending the latter&#8217;s 30+ year tenure of the latter in the House of Representatives, where he conclusively demonstrated that he never gave a sh%$ about his district.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2020\/06\/23\/us\/elections\/results-new-york-house-district-17-primary-election.html\">Mondaire Jones has beaten Adam Schleifer<\/a> in NY-17, despite the latter spending $4 million of his own money.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As an FYI, AOC crushed her Republican until a few months ago Wall Street opponent.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>And while we do not have final results, there are way too many absentee and mail-in ballots for that, we do have some results.
