{"id":176623,"date":"2020-05-02T19:51:00","date_gmt":"2020-05-03T00:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2020\/05\/02\/its-called-perjury-file-charges\/"},"modified":"2020-05-02T19:51:00","modified_gmt":"2020-05-03T00:51:00","slug":"its-called-perjury-file-charges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2020\/05\/02\/its-called-perjury-file-charges\/","title":{"rendered":"It&#8217;s Called Perjury, File Charges"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>It turns out that when Jeff Bezos <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2020\/05\/01\/powerful-house-committee-demands-jeff-bezos-testify-after-misleading-statements-on-how-amazon-develops-its-own-products\/\">lied when he testified before Congress that Amazon did not use 3<sup>rd<\/sup> party vendor data to develop their own products<\/a>.<\/div>\n<p>They should file a criminal perjury complaint.<\/p>\n<p>He lied, and he knew that he lied, and I am sure that Donald Trump&#8217;s stooges in the Department of Justice would love have him jailed:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">Amazon  is in hot water with a powerful congressional committee interested in the company\u2019s potentially anticompetitive business practices. <\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/judiciary.house.gov\/news\/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=2938\">bipartisan letter<\/a> sent Friday to Jeff Bezos, the House Judiciary committee demanded that the Amazon CEO explain discrepancies between his own prior statements and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/amazon-scooped-up-data-from-its-own-sellers-to-launch-competing-products-11587650015?mod=hp_lead_pos7\">recent reporting<\/a> from The Wall Street Journal. Specifically, the letter addressed Amazon\u2019s apparent practice of diving into its trove of data on products and third-party sellers to come up with its own Amazon-branded competing products. <\/p>\n<p>As the Journal notes, Amazon \u201chas long asserted, including to Congress, that when it makes and sells its own products, it doesn\u2019t use information it collects from the site\u2019s individual third-party sellers\u2014data those sellers view as proprietary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2026\u2026\u2026<\/p>\n<p>In the letter, the House Judiciary Committee accuses Bezos of making \u201cmisleading, and possibly criminally false or perjurious\u201d statements to the committee when asked about the practice in the past.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Seriously, why guys like this are allowed to lie with impunity is beyond me.<\/p>\n<p>A few days, hell a few hours, sitting in a cell, might do him a world of good, and a few years in jail will do the rest of us a world of good.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It turns out that when Jeff Bezos lied when he testified before Congress that Amazon did not use 3rd party vendor data to develop their own products.
