{"id":176809,"date":"2020-03-16T19:41:00","date_gmt":"2020-03-17T00:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2020\/03\/16\/speaking-of-evil\/"},"modified":"2020-03-16T19:41:00","modified_gmt":"2020-03-17T00:41:00","slug":"speaking-of-evil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2020\/03\/16\/speaking-of-evil\/","title":{"rendered":"Speaking of Evil\u2026\u2026\u2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Trump and his Evil Minions<sup>\u2122<\/sup> are attempting to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2020\/mar\/16\/not-for-sale-anger-in-germany-at-report-trump-seeking-exclusive-coronavirus-vaccine-deal\">spend billions of dollars to bribe a vaccine developer to keep any vaccine that they develop away from the rest of the world<\/a>:<\/div>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">German ministers have reacted angrily following reports US president <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/donaldtrump\">Donald Trump<\/a> offered a German medical company \u201clarge sums of money\u201d for exclusive rights to a Covid-19 vaccine. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cGermany is not for sale,\u201d economy minister Peter Altmaier told broadcaster ARD, reacting to a front page report in Welt am Sonntag newspaper headlined \u201cTrump vs Berlin\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>The newspaper reported Trump offered $1bn to T\u00fcbingen-based biopharmaceutical company CureVac to secure the vaccine \u201conly for the United States\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>\u2026\u2026\u2026<\/p>\n<p>The report prompted fury in Berlin. \u201cGerman researchers are taking a leading role in developing medication and vaccines as part of global cooperation networks,\u201d foreign minister Heiko Maas told the Funke Mediengruppe research network. \u201cWe cannot allow a situation where others want to exclusively acquire the results of their research,\u201d said Maas, of the centre-left SPD. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cInternational co-operation is important now, not national self-interest,\u201d said Erwin R\u00fcddel, a conservative lawmaker on the German parliament\u2019s health committee. <\/p>\n<p>Christian Lindner, leader of the liberal FDP party, accused Trump of electioneering, saying: \u201cObviously Trump will use any means available in an election campaign.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The German health minister, Jens Spahn, said a takeover of CureVac by the Trump administration was \u201coff the table\u201d.
