A good example of this is something like slavery\u2014or civil rights. It\u2019s an embarrassing thing to admit, but the people who wrote the Constitution did not understand that slavery was a bad thing and did not respect civil rights.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Oh Jesus Christ, Pete.<\/p>\n<p>First of all, if they \u201cdid not respect civil rights\u201d I think it\u2019s safe to say that they knew when they were doing a bad thing, they just didn\u2019t care. <\/p>\n<p>In fact, writer Aleia Woods of <a href=\"https:\/\/newsone.com\/playlist\/twitter-reacts-to-pete-buttigieg-claiming-constitution-signees-didnt-know-slavery-was-a-bad-thing\/item\/1\">NewsOne<\/a> did a fine job of pointing out a direct refutation of this Buttigieg\u2019s statement by one of the framers himself. <span style=\"color: black;\">[This is in addition to my aforementioned example of Thomas Jefferson]<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">In fact, James Madison, one of the \u201cpeople who wrote the Constitution\u201d and owned as many as 118 slaves, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehousehistory.org\/slavery-in-the-james-madison-white-house\">according to White House History<\/a>, admitted to knowing just how immoral and barbaric slavery was.
