It now appears that the right wing Jews are accusing Bernie Sanders, who lost most of his family in the Holocaust, of being an anti-Semite<\/a>.<\/div>\n

Seriously, have they ever heard the story of the boy who cried wolf?<\/p>\n

Given Bernie Sanders\u2019 endurance as a top-tier presidential contender, and his support for Palestinian rights, it was almost inevitable that conservatives would start labelling his campaign anti-Semitic. Last week\u2019s election in Britain\u2014and the alleged similarities between Sanders and Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn\u2014provided the pretext. <\/p>\n

\u201cLinda Sarsour Is Too Antisemitic For The Women\u2019s March, But Not For Bernie Sanders,\u201d declared a February 10 headline<\/a> in The Federalist. Three days later, The Washington Examiner followed up with<\/a>, \u201cBernie Sanders has an anti-Semitism Problem.\u201d Commentary added<\/a>, \u201cBernie Sanders Has a Big Jeremy Corbyn Problem.\u201d<\/p>\n

The effort to implicate the most successful Jewish presidential candidate in American history in Jew-hatred is now well underway. <\/p>\n

It distinguishes Sanders even more dramatically from Donald Trump, who invokes anti-Semitic stereotypes more blatantly and more frequently than any American politician in modern memory. From Trump\u2019s 2013 reference<\/a> to \u201cJonathan Leibowitz – I mean Jon Stewart,\u201d to his 2015 declaration<\/a> to a Republican Jewish Coalition crowd that, \u201cYou\u2019re not going to support me because I don\u2019t want your money\u201d to his closing 2016 campaign ad<\/a>, which featured three Jews \u2014 George Soros, Lloyd Blankfein and Janet Yellin \u2014 alongside language about \u201cglobal special interests\u201d that \u201ccontrol the levers of power\u201d to his suggestion that American Jews view Benjamin Netanyahu<\/a> as \u201cyour prime minister,\u201d to his statement<\/a> to a Jewish audience, just this month, that \u201cYou\u2019re brutal killers, not nice people at all. But you have to vote for me\u2026You\u2019re not gonna vote for the wealth tax,\u201d Trump is almost incapable of speaking about Jews without calling them either avaricious or disloyal.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The most contemptible ones here are Commentary<\/i>, of course, because they know the damage that false accusations like this can do the Jewish community.<\/p>\n
