{"id":177146,"date":"2019-12-11T19:20:00","date_gmt":"2019-12-12T00:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2019\/12\/11\/what-a-fing-candy-ass\/"},"modified":"2019-12-11T19:20:00","modified_gmt":"2019-12-12T00:20:00","slug":"what-a-fing-candy-ass","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2019\/12\/11\/what-a-fing-candy-ass\/","title":{"rendered":"What a F%$#ing Candy Ass"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>A journalist attempted to ask Boris Johnson some questions, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/politics\/2019\/dec\/11\/boris-johnson-hides-in-fridge-to-avoid-piers-morgan-interview\">the Tory candidate for PM hid in a refrigerator to get away from him<\/a>:<\/div>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/politics\/boris-johnson\">Boris Johnson<\/a> retreated into a fridge as he sought to avoid a TV interview, amid rattled nerves at CCHQ over a narrowing in the opinion polls. <\/p>\n<p>The prime minister was ambushed by the Good Morning Britain producer, Jonathan Swain, during a pre-dawn visit to Modern Milkman, a business in the Tory-held constituency of Pudsey, in Yorkshire. <\/p>\n<p>When Swain first approached Johnson, he asked: \u201cMorning prime minister, would you come on Good Morning Britain, prime minister?\u201d Johnson\u2019s aide can be heard mouthing \u201coh for f%$#\u2019s sake\u201d in response. <\/p>\n<p>The show\u2019s hosts, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/media\/piersmorgan\">Piers Morgan<\/a> and Susanna Reid, appeared shocked by the aide\u2019s reaction. Swain goes on to say: \u201cI\u2019ve just had a reaction from one of the minders. OK, no need to push, thank you very much,\u201d with Reid exclaiming: \u201cThe look on his face, that minder.\u201d The aide was then named on air as the PM\u2019s press secretary, Rob Oxley. <\/p>\n<p>When Swain presses the prime minister, stating he was live on the show, Johnson replied \u201cI\u2019ll be with you in a second\u201d and walked off, before Piers exclaims \u201che\u2019s gone into the fridge\u201d. Johnson walks inside a fridge stacked with milk bottles with his aides. One person can  be heard saying: \u201cIt\u2019s a bunker.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Conservative sources subsequently insisted that Johnson was  \u201ccategorically not hiding\u201d in the fridge, from which Johnson emerged  carrying a crate of milk bottles \u2013 but instead his aides were taking a  moment to prep the PM for a separate, pre-agreed interview.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026\u2026\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Tory aides have closely controlled the PM\u2019s appearances since a chaotic day on Monday. <a data-link-name=\"in body link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/politics\/2019\/dec\/09\/refuses-to-look-at-picture-of-boy-forced-to-sleep-on-hospital-floor\">Johnson pocketed a journalist\u2019s phone during a TV interview<\/a> rather than look at a picture of a four-year-old boy asleep on the floor at a Leeds hospital.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I&#8217;m not a big fan of Winston Churchill, but I think that I can conclusively state that BoJo is the least Churchillian person in the whole of the UK, and I am including Gary Glitter in that set.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A journalist attempted to ask Boris Johnson some questions, and the Tory candidate for PM hid in a refrigerator to get away from him: Boris Johnson retreated into a fridge as he sought to avoid a TV interview, amid rattled nerves at CCHQ over a narrowing in the opinion polls.
