{"id":177338,"date":"2019-10-17T19:38:00","date_gmt":"2019-10-18T00:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2019\/10\/17\/oops-4\/"},"modified":"2019-10-17T19:38:00","modified_gmt":"2019-10-18T00:38:00","slug":"oops-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2019\/10\/17\/oops-4\/","title":{"rendered":"Oops\u2026\u2026\u2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/JcA0x.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/JcA0x.jpg\" style=\"cursor: pointer; float: right; margin: 0px 0px 10px 10px;\" width=\"200\" \/><\/a>At a press conference today, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buzzfeednews.com\/article\/sarahmimms\/mick-mulvaney-ukraine-impeachment\">White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney admitted that there was an explicit quid pro quo from demanded by Trump for the military aid to the Ukraine<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">Acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney acknowledged for the first time that President Donald Trump withheld aid from Ukraine until the country agreed to investigate Democrats, before walking back those comments hours later.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">Mulvaney told reporters during a contentious press conference Thursday that the aid was \u201cabsolutely no question\u201d withheld in part because Trump wanted Ukraine to look into \u201ccorruption that related to the DNC server.&#8221;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">Mulvaney said that the military aid was withheld for three reasons: Trump\u2019s worries about corruption in Ukraine, his feeling that other countries were not contributing enough money to aid Ukraine, and \u201cwhether or not they were cooperating in an ongoing investigation with our Department of Justice\u201d into Democrats and the origin of the probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election. Trump has particularly zeroed in on an unfounded conspiracy theory that the Ukrainians have access to a missing Democratic National Committee server, as part of the false theory that Democrats faked the hack of their servers to blame Trump and defeat him in 2016.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">\u201cThat is it. And that is why we held up the money. \u2026 The look back to what happened in 2016 certainly was part of the thing that he was worried about in corruption with that nation.
