force a woman to be baptized<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>When you read this account, you just know that this was not the first time that happened.<\/p>\n<p>My guess is that they get their jollies by seeing a shivering wet woman in their underwear:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">A woman in Tennessee said a sheriff\u2019s deputy stripped down to his boxers and forcibly baptized her at a boat ramp late one night in February.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">Now she\u2019s suing for more than $10 million, according to court documents.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">Shandle Marie Riley accused two sheriff\u2019s deputies and the Hamilton County government of civil rights violations and assault in a lawsuit filed Tuesday, saying she was \u201chorribly violated\u201d when one of the men got partially naked and dunked her in freezing cold water \u2014 all reportedly to keep her out of jail after a traffic stop.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">\u201c(The deputy) had no lawful basis to coerce (Riley) into obtaining towels, following (him) to a remote location, and participating in a baptism in exchange for not going to jail,\u201d the complaint states. \u201cNo reasonable law enforcement officer would have acted in this manner.\u201d<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">Representatives from the county and the sheriff\u2019s office did not immediately respond to McClatchy news group\u2019s request for comment Wednesday.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">\u2026\u2026\u2026<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">During the traffic stop, the deputy accused Riley of having meth and ordered her to get out of the car, according to the suit.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">\u201cWithout any lawful justification, Wilkey then conducted a search of the plaintiff\u2019s person by feeling, through plaintiff\u2019s clothing, her breasts, abdomen, buttocks, inner thighs and her crotch,\u201d the complaint states.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">He also reportedly asked her to \u201creach under her shirt and pull out her bra and shake the bra and the shirt.\u201d<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">When Riley asked if a female officer should be present, Wilkey told her the law didn\u2019t require it, according to the suit.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">\u2026\u2026\u2026<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">\u201cWilkey then told plaintiff that God was talking to him during the vehicle search, and Wilkey felt the lord wanted him to baptize the plaintiff,\u201d the complaint states. \u201cWilkey further told plaintiff that he felt \u2018the spirit.\u2019\u201d<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">In exchange for the baptism, the deputy told Riley he would not take her to jail but issue a criminal citation for the marijuana, according to the suit.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">Per his instructions, Riley said she brought two towels from her friend\u2019s home and followed the deputy to a boat ramp at Soddy Lake, more than 20 miles outside Chattanooga.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">\u201cWilkey did not say where he was taking her,\u201d the complaint states. \u201cAt no time did plaintiff feel free to simply ignore Wilkey and not do as he commanded.\u201d<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">Another deputy, Jacob Goforth, reportedly met them at the boat ramp to serve as a witness and \u201cattest to the ritual.\u201d<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">Wilkey then stripped down to his boxer shorts and gave Riley the same option, which she declined, according to the suit.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">The deputy led Riley waist-deep into \u201cfrigid water\u201d and submerged her with one hand on her back and the other on her breasts \u201cfor several moments,\u201d she said in court documents.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">\u201c(Riley) was shivering uncontrollably, and felt horribly violated,\u201d the complaint states.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">After toweling off, Riley said Goforth \u201csmirked\u201d at her but never attempted to intervene or report his colleague.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The <i>New York Times<\/i> also notes that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/aponline\/2019\/10\/03\/us\/ap-us-deputy-forced-baptism.html\">officer Wilkey also faces an unrelated excessive force lawsuit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Why are these guys still on the force.<\/p>\n<p>Also, why are they not cooling their heels in jail.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two Tennessee Police
