Cuomo doesn&#8217;t sign a bill sitting on his desk that would make it easier to switch parties to vote in a primary, as recommended by the party&#8217;s Unity &amp; Reform Commission. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/1mEZmukFNB\">pic.twitter.com\/1mEZmukFNB<\/a><\/div>\n<p>\u2014 Alex Seitz-Wald (@aseitzwald) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/aseitzwald\/status\/1174723870424752128?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 19, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<p>New York state has the most byzantine and opaque requirements for party registration in the nation.<\/p>\n<p>This has clearly been done to ensure that the party bosses have no accountability.<\/p>\n<p>BTW, it&#8217;s not just the Sanders campaign that has made this observation, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brennancenter.org\/blog\/new-yorks-worst-country-voting-system\">so has the Brennan Center<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">Clumsily designed ballots. An antiquated registration process. Confusing deadlines and outdated laws. Long lines and no early voting. New York state \u2014 caricatured as a bastion of progressive politics \u2014 has some of the most retrograde voting laws and practices in the nation.
