{"id":177490,"date":"2019-09-06T18:55:00","date_gmt":"2019-09-06T23:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2019\/09\/06\/moo-devin-moo\/"},"modified":"2019-09-06T18:55:00","modified_gmt":"2019-09-06T23:55:00","slug":"moo-devin-moo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2019\/09\/06\/moo-devin-moo\/","title":{"rendered":"Moo Devin, Moo"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>After <a href=\"https:\/\/40yrs.blogspot.com\/2019\/03\/this-may-be-most-epic-self-own-of-all.html\">suing parody twitter accounts<\/a>, including one to claiming to be his non-existent cow, Devin Nunez then sued his own constituents for saying mean things about him.<\/div>\n<p>Well, now it has finally occurred to the distinguished gentleman that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fresnobee.com\/news\/local\/article234719422.html\">suing voters in his own district for defamation is a stupid idea<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">The campaign for Devin Nunes on Tuesday dropped its lawsuit against the people who accused the Republican congressman of being a \u201cfake farmer\u201d and tried to get his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fresnobee.com\/news\/politics-government\/politics-columns-blogs\/political-notebook\/article217591770.html\">ballot designation<\/a> removed. <\/p>\n<p>The campaign filed the lawsuit last month in Tulare County Superior Court, alleging the group conspired with \u201cdark money\u201d groups to injure the campaign. <\/p>\n<p>Brian Whelan, a local attorney representing Nunes\u2019 constituents, said in a news release his clients \u201cprevailed and won without having had to square off.\u201d He represents retired farmer Paul Buxman, librarian Hope Nisly and Daniel O\u2019Connell, an agrarian scholar. <\/p>\n<p>Nunes\u2019 lawsuit was an attack on his clients\u2019 rights to free speech and to petition the government, Whelan said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. Nunes made a statement that these important rights were to be disregarded when applied to the very powerful,\u201d Whelan said.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It appears though that this not mean that Nunes is done with filing dumb-ass lawsuits for what is basic first amendment protected political activity:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2019\/09\/04\/devin-nunes-sues-fusion-gps-racketeering\/\">The Daily Caller<\/a> reported that Nunes filed a lawsuit on Wednesday against two defendants: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fusiongps.com\/\">Fusion GPS<\/a>, an opposition research firm behind the Steele dossier that outlines alleged ties between President Donald Trump and Russia; and the <a href=\"https:\/\/campaignforaccountability.org\/\">Campaign for Accountability<\/a>, which filed ethics complaints against Nunes. <\/p>\n<p>Kapetan declined to elaborate on what the new evidence is, but he said the investigation conducted by the Nunes campaign may be forwarded to the Department of Justice. <\/p>\n<p>Whelan noted his clients are not named in the new lawsuit. He said that if there was new evidence, the Nunes campaign wouldn\u2019t have dismissed the lawsuit against his clients. <\/p>\n<p>Nunes also is suing social media giant Twitter, the people behind two parody Twitter accounts and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fresnobee.com\/news\/local\/article234182602.html\">McClatchy<\/a>, The Bee\u2019s parent company.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I expect some sanctions at the end of this for Nunes being a vexatious litigant.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After suing parody twitter accounts, including one to claiming to be his non-existent cow, Devin Nunez then sued his own constituents for saying mean things about him.
