{"id":177788,"date":"2019-06-10T18:30:00","date_gmt":"2019-06-10T23:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2019\/06\/10\/ineluctable-evil\/"},"modified":"2019-06-10T18:30:00","modified_gmt":"2019-06-10T23:30:00","slug":"ineluctable-evil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2019\/06\/10\/ineluctable-evil\/","title":{"rendered":"Ineluctable Evil"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just when I thought that Trump and his Evil Minions<sup>\u2122<\/sup> could not get any more evil, they propose <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2017\/06\/07\/trump-wants-to-start-charging-stores-to-accept-food-stamps.html\">charging grocery stores for the privilege of accepting food stamps<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s pretty clear what is going on here:  They want to push SNAP out of food deserts, so as to reduce enrollment, so that they can eventually force people to starve.<\/p>\n<p>Impeach now:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">The White House proposal to overhaul the U.S. food stamp program \u2014 and the deep cuts it would make to benefits for the poorest households \u2014 has sparked public outrage on both sides of the aisle. But there&#8217;s another change tucked into the proposal that businesses say caught them off guard \u2014 and could wind up costing them more than $2 billion.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">That provision is a new fee that the White House wants to charge retailers that accept food stamps, which is now known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">\u2026\u2026\u2026<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">Beyond the new fee, the Trump administration is proposing $191 billion in cuts over the next decade to the food stamp program. The U.S. budget office said the reductions would come from tightening the work requirement to qualify for the benefits, but said the details would be left up to individual states.
