{"id":177816,"date":"2019-06-02T18:15:00","date_gmt":"2019-06-02T23:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2019\/06\/02\/just-ignoring-the-court\/"},"modified":"2019-06-02T18:15:00","modified_gmt":"2019-06-02T23:15:00","slug":"just-ignoring-the-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2019\/06\/02\/just-ignoring-the-court\/","title":{"rendered":"Just Ignoring the Court?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>The DoJ has just announced that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/justice-department-fails-to-comply-with-court-order-to-release-transcripts-of-michael-flynns-conversations-with-russian-ambassador\/2019\/05\/31\/9b4a6754-83b8-11e9-95a9-e2c830afe24f_story.html\">it will ignore a court order calling for it to release transcripts of conversations between former NSC Chairman Michael Flynn and Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak<\/a>.<\/div>\n<p>The DoJ fighting public release of information is something that has been standard operating procedure for a very long time, the Obama administration has fought this tooth and nail against the public release of information, but this is different, because the DoJ is simply refusing to comply.<\/p>\n<p>There has been no request for an appeal or injunction, they are just refusing to follow a judge&#8217;s orders: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">Federal prosecutors on Friday declined to make public transcripts of recorded conversations between Michael Flynn and Russia\u2019s ambassador to the United States in December 2016, despite a judge\u2019s order. <\/p>\n<p>In a court filing Friday, the Justice Department wrote that it did not rely on such recordings to establish Flynn\u2019s guilt or determine a recommendation for his sentencing. <\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors also failed to release an unredacted version of portions of the Mueller report related to Flynn that the judge had ordered be made public.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026\u2026\u2026<\/p>\n<p>The government\u2019s unusual response came after U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan in Washington <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/judge-orders-public-release-of-what-michael-flynn-said-in-call-to-russian-ambassador\/2019\/05\/16\/1e68712a-7825-11e9-bd25-c989555e7766_story.html?utm_term=.0e306dbc3b41\">ordered <\/a>earlier in May that the Justice Department make public various materials related to the case, including transcripts of any audio recordings of Flynn, such as his conversations with Russian officials.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026\u2026\u2026<\/p>\n<p> Sullivan made clear he wanted the full transcript of Flynn\u2019s calls to be shared with the public, although he did not provide his reasoning.
