But he ended up serving three and a half years in prison after he was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/media\/2007\/jul\/13\/pressandpublishing.citynews1\">convicted in 2007<\/a> of siphoning off millions of dollars from the sale of newspapers owned by the company he controlled.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026\u2026\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Black was jailed after being found guilty of conspiring with fellow executives to siphon off funds from the sale of media businesses. Two of Black\u2019s three fraud convictions were later voided, and his sentence was shortened.
