Cornel West has just endorsed Bernie Sanders<\/a>:<\/p>\n

In an interview with The Intercept<\/a> published Thursday, philosopher Cornel West endorsed Bernie Sanders\u2019 bid for the White House. <\/p>\n

West, who endorsed Sanders in 2016 and campaigned for him, explained that the Vermont senator fulfils \u201cMartin Luther King-like\u201d criteria when it comes to issues of race, war, materialism, and poverty. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd this is the first time I\u2019ve had a chance to publicly endorse him again, but yes, indeed. I\u2019ll be in his corner that we\u2019re going to win this time,\u201d he said, adding, \u201cmy dear brother Bernie stands shoulders above any of the other candidates running in the Democratic primary when it comes to that Martin Luther King-like standards or criteria.\u201d <\/p>\n

Bernie Sanders is often accused by his opponents \u2014 despite his activist past and lifelong dedication to civil rights \u2014 of having a \u201cproblem\u201d with black voters. But according to Cornel West that will be a non-issue in 2020. <\/p>\n

In 2016 Sanders was facing two major issues: The \u201cClinton machine\u201d and lack of name recognition. Since then, African Americans have \u201chad the chance to discover\u201d who Bernie Sanders really is, according to the philosopher, and this is now reflected in the polls.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
