{"id":178299,"date":"2019-01-12T22:26:00","date_gmt":"2019-01-13T03:26:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2019\/01\/12\/toyota-brings-back-tail-fins\/"},"modified":"2019-01-12T22:26:00","modified_gmt":"2019-01-13T03:26:00","slug":"toyota-brings-back-tail-fins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2019\/01\/12\/toyota-brings-back-tail-fins\/","title":{"rendered":"Toyota Brings Back Tail Fins"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have a 2004 Toyota Prius.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s my midlife crisis car, because I am the dullest motherf%$#er on the planet.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not beautiful in the way that a Jaguar E-Type convertable is, but I rather like it&#8217;s jelly-bean like appearance:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/JoRIqJi.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/JoRIqJi.jpg\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s appearance is clear and unadorned and functional, which I like.<\/p>\n<p>The new Priuses (Prii?) sport wonderful specifications, particularly the plug-in hybrid Prius Prime, but the styling is not to my taste.<\/p>\n<p>I find it busy and distracting.<\/p>\n<p>I was looking at the back, and I had this weird sense of deja vu, and then it hit me:  Toyota has put tail fins on their cars.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, it&#8217;s a somewhat less ostentatious version of the tail fins from a 1959 Chevy Belair:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/N8crYqL.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/N8crYqL.png\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Please tell me that I am not the only one who sees this.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have a 2004 Toyota Prius.
