{"id":178375,"date":"2018-12-19T20:14:00","date_gmt":"2018-12-20T01:14:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2018\/12\/19\/fabulous\/"},"modified":"2018-12-19T20:14:00","modified_gmt":"2018-12-20T01:14:00","slug":"fabulous","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2018\/12\/19\/fabulous\/","title":{"rendered":"Fabulous!!!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>The Canadian Supreme Court has ruled that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-us-canada-44501139\">professing profound belief in an invisible man in the sky is not a license to discriminate<\/a>:<\/div>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">Canada&#8217;s top court has ruled in favour of denying accreditation to a Christian law school that banned students from having gay sex.<\/p>\n<p>Friday&#8217;s ruling against Trinity Western University in British Columbia (BC) was closely watched by both religious freedom and gay rights advocates. <\/p>\n<p>The university made students promise not to have extra-marital or gay sex.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court found that protecting LGBT students from discrimination trumped religious freedom. <\/p>\n<p>\u2026\u2026\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Ontario, British Columbia and Nova Scotia law societies denied the school accreditation, on the grounds that it required all students to sign a covenant binding them to a code of conduct which banned sex outside the confines of heterosexual marriage.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Specifically, it said that it could (would) expel students for gay sex.<\/p>\n<p>Good on the court.<\/p>\n<p>Your need to hate does not trump basic human rights.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Canadian Supreme Court has ruled that professing profound belief in an invisible man in the sky is not a license to discriminate: Canada&#8217;s top court has ruled in favour of denying accreditation to a Christian law school that banned students from having gay sex.
