Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), the incoming chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, started a debate over the national party\u2019s superdelegate policy, which led to a motion of no confidence in Perez, who took over the DNC in February 2017.<\/p>\n<p>CBC members described the debate as \u201cheated\u201d and \u201ccontroversial.\u201d CBC Chairman Cedric Richmond (D-La.) said members \u201cfelt that the DNC pitted them against their constituents.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo now if they want to be a delegate, they have to run against their constituents who want to be delegates, and it\u2019s an unfair proposition,\u201d Richmond told POLITICO. \u201cWe don\u2019t want to run against our constituents, so the caucus had made its position known. \u2026 It speaks for itself.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The DNC in August voted to dramatically diminish the power of superdelegates \u2014 elected officials and party activists who are free to vote for any candidate at the presidential nominating convention. The new rule bars superdelegates from voting on the first presidential nominating ballot at a contested national convention.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Seriously, I can think of no better example of the self-serving egocentric arrogance than this crap.<\/p>\n<p>Stop.&nbsp; Just Stop.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Congressional Black Caucus has issued a vote of no-confidence for DCC Chairman Tom Perez.
