{"id":178560,"date":"2018-10-26T18:33:00","date_gmt":"2018-10-26T23:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2018\/10\/26\/florida-man-2\/"},"modified":"2018-10-26T18:33:00","modified_gmt":"2018-10-26T23:33:00","slug":"florida-man-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2018\/10\/26\/florida-man-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Florida Man\u2026\u2026\u2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Yes, authorities have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/news\/local\/community\/broward\/article220672300.html\">arrested a <b><span style=\"font-size: 100%; font-variant: small-caps;\">Florida Man<\/span><\/b> for the recent spate of pipe bombs sent to prominent Democrats<\/a>.<\/div>\n<p>Hell of a way to reinforce a meme:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">Before he was arrested for mailing more than a dozen pipe bombs to prominent critics of President Donald Trump \u2014 some of which included pictures of the intended targets with a red \u201cX\u201d over their faces \u2014 Cesar Sayoc lived a scattered and bizarre life in South Florida. <\/p>\n<p>He was an avid bodybuilder who trained in mixed martial arts and a former exotic dancer and strip club manager who held a string of odd jobs, among them a Papa John\u2019s pizza deliveryman and a DJ. He bought a house in Fort Lauderdale, which was foreclosed on in 2009, lived with his parents in an Aventura condo, and most recently slept in a white van papered with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DarrylNBC6\/status\/1055842435891372033\">pro-Trump and right-wing stickers<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Along the way, Sayoc racked up a long rap sheet for everything from grand theft and battery to making a bomb threat against Florida Power &amp; Light. He was also accused of domestic violence by a woman who appears to have been his grandmother. <\/p>\n<p>But of all of his diverse interests, 56-year-old Sayoc\u2019s fervent support for Trump appears to have been his greatest passion in recent years. Sayoc\u2019s social media accounts were filled with photos of him wearing a red Make American Great Again baseball cap, videos of a Trump rally he attended in 2016 and pro-Trump news stories.
