But civil rights groups <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ajc.com\/news\/local-govt--politics\/federal-judge-mulling-action-over-georgia-absentee-ballots\/JS3hXmCTp0wiI6ZOJui47L\/\">whose lawsuits<\/a> led to May\u2019s decision have already declared victory in the battle, just one of many voting rights skirmishes to surface in what\u2019s become a contentious Georgia election season. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are pleased that the court has enforced the due process guarantees of the U.S. Constitution,\u201d said Sean Young, legal director of Georgia\u2019s branch of the American Civil Liberties Union. \u201cToday\u2019s ruling is a victory for democracy and for every absentee voter in the state of Georgia.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This is not the sort of sh%$ that should be allowed to stand.<\/p>\n<p>It is literally an assault on democracy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A federal judge has said that he will be issuing an injunction against arbitrary discarding of absentee ballots from black voters: A federal judge intends to issue an injunction barring Georgia election officials from tossing certain absentee ballots without giving would-be voters advance notice and a chance to rectify any issues.
