{"id":178599,"date":"2018-10-17T18:36:00","date_gmt":"2018-10-17T23:36:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2018\/10\/17\/the-term-here-is-corrupt\/"},"modified":"2018-10-17T18:36:00","modified_gmt":"2018-10-17T23:36:00","slug":"the-term-here-is-corrupt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2018\/10\/17\/the-term-here-is-corrupt\/","title":{"rendered":"The Term Here is &#8220;Corrupt&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>In July, I commented on a how a real Democrat won the primary for Montgomery County executive, and the party establishment there saw this as a threat to their <strike>bribes<\/strike> support from real estate developers, so they <a href=\"https:\/\/40yrs.blogspot.com\/2018\/07\/silly-rabbit-party-unity-is-one-way.html\">stood up a Democrat who changed her party registration for an independent bid to sabotage his run<\/a>.<\/div>\n<p>Well, now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/local\/md-politics\/independent-montgomery-candidate-plans-return-to-democratic-party\/2018\/10\/17\/64223e04-d21b-11e8-b2d2-f397227b43f0_story.html\">Nancy Floreen is trying to claim that she was really a Democrat the whole time<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>She was never a Democrat.  She was a tool of the developers who found pretending to be a Democrat was useful.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s time for the Democratic Party of Montgomery County to tell her to pound sand, and say, &#8220;No backsies.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">Montgomery County executive candidate Nancy Floreen says she will return to the Democratic fold after the Nov. 6 election \u2014 regardless of whether her independent bid for the liberal county\u2019s top post is successful. <\/p>\n<p>Floreen, a 16-year county council member and two-time delegate to the Democratic National Convention, left the party in July to make a surprise run for county executive, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/local\/md-politics\/nancy-floreen-qualifies-to-run-in-montgomery-county-executive-race\/2018\/08\/22\/c4d407f2-a578-11e8-97ce-cc9042272f07_story.html?utm_term=.b0b34b10b92d\">gathering enough petition signatures <\/a>to appear on the November ballot. <\/p>\n<p>The move was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/local\/md-politics\/nancy-floreen-to-run-for-montgomery-county-executive-as-an-independent\/2018\/07\/11\/68b37ff8-8506-11e8-8f6c-46cb43e3f306_story.html?utm_term=.8cf713af9ad1\">prompted by her opposition to the Democratic nominee<\/a>, 12-year council member Marc Elrich. It left some Democrats feeling betrayed. <\/p>\n<p>At a candidate debate Wednesday morning hosted by the Greater Bethesda U.S. Chamber of Commerce and moderated by Bethesda Magazine editor and publisher Steve Hull, Floreen said she would re-register as a Democrat if she\u2019s elected. <\/p>\n<p>Floreen later said she plans to return to the party regardless of the outcome of the election, \u201cbecause I am a Democrat at heart.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI only changed parties in order to run the petition drive,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019ve been very upfront about that.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>You are a contemptible piece of excrement, you&#8217;ve been very upfront about that.<\/p>\n<p>BTW, whenever you hear a corporate Democrat call for unity, know that it&#8217;s only a one way street.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In July, I commented on a how a real Democrat won the primary for Montgomery County executive, and the party establishment there saw this as a threat to their bribes support from real estate developers, so they stood up a Democrat who changed her party registration for an independent bid to sabotage his run.
