He&#8217;s also running for governor.<\/p>\n<p>As Secretary of state, he has <a href=\"https:\/\/truthout.org\/articles\/gops-brian-kemp-purged-1-in-10-georgia-voters-ive-got-the-names\/\">purged a tenth of voters, with blacks purged at a rate twice that of white voters<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As Marcus Tullius Cicero was wont to say, &#8220;Cui bono&#8221; (Who benefits):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">My lawyer had to threaten Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp with a  federal lawsuit to force him to turn over the names of over half a  million voters whose citizenship rights he quietly extinguished.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">This past week, I released the name of every one of these Georgia  voters Kemp flushed from voter rolls in 2017. If you\u2019re a Georgia  resident, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gregpalast.com\/georgia-voter-purge-list-2018\/\">check the list.<\/a> If your name is on it, re-register right now. You only have through tomorrow (October 9).<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">It\u2019s no coincidence that Georgia\u2019s Purge\u2019n General is also running for Governor: The Republican candidate is fighting a dead-even race against Stacey Abrams, Democratic House Minority Leader. Abrams, if she wins, would become the first Black woman governor in US history.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">Suspiciously, Kemp sent no notice to these citizens after he took away their voting rights. If they show up to vote on November 6, they\u2019re out of luck \u2014 and so is Georgia\u2019s democracy.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Palast (above) neglects to mention that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/national\/voting-rights-become-a-flashpoint-in-georgia-governors-race\/2018\/10\/09\/86b41c4e-cbd1-11e8-ad0a-0e01efba3cc1_story.html?noredirect=on&amp;utm_term=.91608c97c206\">it is minority voters who are being disproportionately effected by his actions<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">An analysis of the records obtained by The Associated Press reveals racial disparity in the process. Georgia\u2019s population is approximately 32 percent black, according to the U.S. Census, but the list of voter registrations on hold with Kemp\u2019s office is nearly 70 percent black.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>An important thing to note here:&nbsp; Despite public chest beating, the national Democratic party does not spend a whole bunch of time or money on getting voters registered.<\/p>\n<p>It should be 24\/7 thing, but it isn&#8217;t.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In Georgia, Brian Kemp is the Secretary of State.
