(I missed this revelation when it came out 9 months ago)<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">Last week, the beginning of an <a href=\"https:\/\/news.vice.com\/en_us\/article\/mbpzx8\/how-a-corrupt-baltimore-police-task-force-tainted-thousands-of-cases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">explosive corruption trial<\/a>  involving eight members of Baltimore&#8217;s elite Gun Trace Task Force  revealed that a handful of Baltimore cops allegedly kept fake guns in  their patrol cars to plant on innocent people\u2014a failsafe they could use  if they happened to shoot an unarmed suspect, the <i>Baltimore Sun<\/i> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.baltimoresun.com\/news\/maryland\/crime\/bs-md-ci-gun-trace-task-force-gttf-testimony-highlights-20180126-story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reports<\/a>.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">Detective Maurice Ward, who&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.baltimoresun.com\/news\/maryland\/crime\/bs-md-ci-rearraignments-20170720-story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">already pleaded guilty to corruption charges<\/a>,  testified that he and his partners were told to carry the replicas and  BB guns &#8220;in case we accidentally hit somebody or got into a shootout, so  we could plant them.&#8221; The directive allegedly came from the team&#8217;s  sergeant, Wayne Jenkins, the <i>Washington Post<\/i> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/local\/public-safety\/their-job-was-to-take-guns-off-baltimore-streets-they-admitted-stealing-drugs-and-cash-instead\/2018\/01\/30\/336eed26-029a-11e8-9d31-d72cf78dbeee_story.html?utm_term=.80ec699a3c4b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reports.<\/a>  Though Ward didn&#8217;t say whether or not the tactic was ever used,  Detective Marcus Taylor\u2014another cop swept up in the scandal\u2014was carrying  a fake gun almost identical to his service weapon when he was arrested  last year, according to the <i>Sun<\/i>.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: blue;\">\u2026\u2026\u2026<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">But the BB gun testimony is particularly disturbing in light of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vice.com\/en_us\/article\/exq8j7\/the-cop-who-shot-12-year-old-tamir-rice-on-a-cleveland-playground-just-dodged-charges\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">12-year-old Tamir Rice&#8217;s death in 2014<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/baltimore.cbslocal.com\/2016\/04\/27\/city-police-investigating-officer-involved-shooting\/#.VyEuJTZIvMQ.facebook\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">13-year-old in Baltimore who was shot twice by cops in 2016<\/a> after he allegedly sprinted from them with a replica gun in his hand, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/investigations\/in-two-years-police-killed-86-people-brandishing-guns-that-look-real--but-arent\/2016\/12\/18\/ec005c3a-b025-11e6-be1c-8cec35b1ad25_story.html?utm_term=.cd2b246ba5b0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">86 people fatally shot by police in 2015 and 2016 who were spotted carrying toy guns.<\/a><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Think about that if you are ever on a jury, or a grand jury, investigating a shooting by a cop.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the ongoing corruption trials involving members of the Baltimore City police department, it has been revealed that Baltimore police officers routinely carry toy guns to plant on people when they shoot them:&nbsp;
