Wade<\/i><\/a>, because he told her that it was &#8220;settled law&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Seriously, just how f%$#ing stupid does Collins think we are?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">A Republican senator whose vote could ensure the confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Brett M. Kavanaugh offered an upbeat assessment of their meeting Tuesday, highlighting the judge\u2019s statement that the <i>Roe v. Wade<\/i> decision legalizing abortion is \u201csettled law.\u201d<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">Sen. Susan Collins (Maine), a centrist who supports abortion rights, appeared to be leaning toward backing President Trump\u2019s nominee after a one-on-one session that lasted more than two hours. Collins said she would announce her decision after confirmation hearings next month.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">Collins said Kavanaugh told her that he agreed with Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr., who said during his 2005 confirmation hearing that <i>Roe<\/i> was \u201csettled as a precedent of the court.\u201d The landmark 1973 Supreme Court decision established a woman\u2019s right to terminate her pregnancy.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">\u201cHe said that he agreed with what Justice Roberts said at his nomination hearing, in which he said it was settled law,\u201d Collins told reporters.
