{"id":179138,"date":"2018-05-06T18:12:00","date_gmt":"2018-05-06T23:12:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2018\/05\/06\/epic-troll\/"},"modified":"2018-05-06T18:12:00","modified_gmt":"2018-05-06T23:12:00","slug":"epic-troll","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2018\/05\/06\/epic-troll\/","title":{"rendered":"Epic Troll"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In celebration of the 200<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of his birth, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-europe-44009621\">the Peoples Republic of China sent a statue of Karl Marx to his home town<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">With Germany unsure about how to mark 200 years since Karl Marx was born, a giant bronze statue of the philosopher given by China to the town of his birth is adding to the unease.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">The small town of Trier near Luxembourg in western Germany eventually decided to accept the 4.5m (15ft) statue created by China&#8217;s most famous sculptor &#8211; but only after years of wrangling over whether taking it would appear to condone rights abuses in China.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">Marx co-wrote the Communist Manifesto, which said that all of human history had been based on class struggle.
