{"id":179278,"date":"2018-04-01T18:49:00","date_gmt":"2018-04-01T23:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2018\/04\/01\/this-sh-just-got-real\/"},"modified":"2018-04-01T18:49:00","modified_gmt":"2018-04-01T23:49:00","slug":"this-sh-just-got-real","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2018\/04\/01\/this-sh-just-got-real\/","title":{"rendered":"This Sh^% Just Got Real"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The good folks at <i>Naked Capitalism<\/i> made note of a lawsuit where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nakedcapitalism.com\/2018\/03\/current-trustees-kentucky-retirement-systems-pension-suit-considering-throwing-predecessors-bus-get-blackstone-kkr.html\">Current trustees of the Kentucky Retirement System are considering joining a lawsuit against them<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Basically, they are considering including former trustees and staff as targets for the roughly $1\u00bd billion that the hedge funds lost at the dog track.<\/p>\n<p>The fact that they are going after their predecessors is significant, but to my mind, the thing that makes this more than a legal long shot is the fact that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kentucky.com\/news\/politics-government\/article207582429.html\">the hedge funds have been sufficiently spooked to ask the judge to have the bulk of the proceedings sealed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If the hedge funds are worried enough about this to do this, than this suit has a real possibility of holding them to account.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The good folks at Naked Capitalism made note of a lawsuit where Current trustees of the Kentucky Retirement System are considering joining a lawsuit against them.
