It appears that Cornel West and Ta-Nehisi Coates explored their differences of opinions over Twitter, with West asserting that Coates that the latter’s, “narrow racial tribalism and myopic political neoliberalism has no place for keeping track of Wall Street greed, US imperial crimes or black elite indifference to poverty”.<\/p>\n

I have not personally seen this exchange, but Coates deleted his Twitter account after their exchange<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Author Ta-Nehisi Coates has deleted his Twitter account after a dispute with philosopher and social critic Cornel West.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeace, y\u2019all. I\u2019m out,\u201d Coates wrote Tuesday on his now-defunct account, according to the AP.<\/a> \u201cI didn\u2019t get in it for this.\u201d<\/p>\n

West recently criticized Coates in an essay published in The Guardian,<\/a> slamming him for not being critical enough of former President Obama and writing that he \u201cfetishizes white supremacy.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the piece, West accuses Coates, who has emerged as one of the country’s leading black intellectuals, of having a \u201cpreoccupation with white acceptance\u201d and an \u201callegiance to Obama.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I don’t know what happened, but I am sad to have missed this.<\/p>\n

I also have no clue as to who “won”, though like most Twitter fights, my guess is that they they both<\/b> “lost”.<\/p>\n

That is just the nature of Twitter.<\/p>\n
