{"id":180097,"date":"2017-07-20T18:07:00","date_gmt":"2017-07-20T23:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2017\/07\/20\/fail-4\/"},"modified":"2017-07-20T18:07:00","modified_gmt":"2017-07-20T23:07:00","slug":"fail-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2017\/07\/20\/fail-4\/","title":{"rendered":"Fail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mitch McConnell and his merry band of psychopaths have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsws.org\/en\/articles\/2017\/07\/19\/care-j19.html\">failed even worse on their 2<sup>nd<\/sup> try to repeal Obamacare<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell, Republican of Kentucky, announced Tuesday morning on the Senate floor that the Republicans\u2019 effort to repeal and replace Obamacare had failed.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">This turn of events marks a stunning defeat for President Trump, who has made a \u201crepeal and replace\u201d of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) one of his central policy goals. Although he has issued executive orders on immigration, deregulation, and taken other reactionary initiatives, no major legislation has been moved through Congress for him to sign.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">McConnell was unable to bring the latest version of Senate Republicans\u2019 Better Care Reconciliation Act (BCRA) to a vote after two Republican senators, Mike Lee of Utah and Jerry Moran of Kansas, came out in opposition to the bill, leaving the Senate leadership at least two votes short of the number needed to begin debate on the measure.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">Two other Republicans, Senators Rand Paul of Kentucky and Susan Collins of Maine, had already signaled their opposition.
