{"id":180163,"date":"2017-07-05T18:32:00","date_gmt":"2017-07-05T23:32:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2017\/07\/05\/fail-6\/"},"modified":"2017-07-05T18:32:00","modified_gmt":"2017-07-05T23:32:00","slug":"fail-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2017\/07\/05\/fail-6\/","title":{"rendered":"Fail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday, the Teabaggers had a major case of butt hurt over a series of tweets sent out by National Public Radio.<\/p>\n<p>They claimed that they were an attempt to provoke a revolution against Donald Trump.&nbsp; They were claiming that it was &#8220;fake news&#8221; and left wing propaganda.<\/p>\n<p>One small problem, the series of 113 tweets <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/the-fix\/wp\/2017\/07\/05\/some-trump-supporters-thought-npr-tweeted-propaganda-it-was-the-declaration-of-independence\/?utm_term=.287c6a7c4322\">was the declaration of independence<\/a>: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">For about 20 minutes Tuesday, NPR traveled back to 1776.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span> <span style=\"color: blue;\">To echo its 29-year on-air tradition, the public radio network\u2019s main Twitter account tweeted out the Declaration of Independence, line by line.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span> <span style=\"color: blue;\">There \u2014 in 113 consecutive posts, in 140-character increments \u2014 was the text of the treasured founding document of the United States, from its soaring opening to its searing indictments of King George III\u2019s \u201cabsolute tyranny\u201d to its very last signature.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span> <span style=\"color: blue;\">Who could have taken issue with such a patriotic exercise, done in honor of the nation\u2019s birthday?<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span> <span style=\"color: blue;\">Quite a few people, it turned out.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span> <span style=\"color: blue;\">Perhaps it was the Founding Fathers\u2019 capitalization of random words or the sentence fragments into which some of the Declaration\u2019s most recognizable lines were broken. But plenty of Twitter users reacted angrily to the thread, accusing NPR of spamming them \u2014 or, worse, trying to push an agenda.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/owIf0rZ.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/owIf0rZ.jpg\" style=\"cursor: pointer; float: right; margin: 0px 0px 10px 10px;\" width=\"180\" \/><\/a>Seriously?<\/p>\n<p>You are claiming that the quoting the Declaration of Independence on Independence Day is a communist plot?<\/p>\n<p>What the actual f%$#?<\/p>\n<p>Where did you get your education, Hamburger University? <\/p>\n<p>Seriously, if you freaked out over this, then you seriously need to evaluate your value system.<\/p>\n<p>Also, take a history course, and try to actually read the founding documents that you claim to have so much affection for.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday, the Teabaggers had a major case of butt hurt over a series of tweets sent out by National Public Radio.
