{"id":180361,"date":"2017-05-11T18:55:00","date_gmt":"2017-05-11T23:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2017\/05\/11\/i-like-frank\/"},"modified":"2017-05-11T18:55:00","modified_gmt":"2017-05-11T23:55:00","slug":"i-like-frank","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2017\/05\/11\/i-like-frank\/","title":{"rendered":"I Like Frank"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>I mean of course the Pontiff.<\/div>\n<p>In his latest acknowledgement of reality, he has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/science\/pope-francis-big-bang-scientists-vatican-catholic-church-realise-discuss-evolution-physics-space-a7725706.html\">recognizes that the Big Bang Theory is real and throws a shindig<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">The Vatican has invited the world&#8217;s leading scientists and cosmologists to try and understand <a href=\"http:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/world\/europe\/pope-francis-declares-evolution-and-big-bang-theory-are-right-and-god-isnt-a-magician-with-a-magic-9822514.html\">the Big Bang<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Astrophysicists and other experts will attend the Vatican Observatory to discuss black holes, gravitational waves and space-time singularities as it honors the late Jesuit cosmologist considered one of the fathers of the idea that the universe began with a gigantic explosion. <\/p>\n<p>The conference \u2013 which runs through the week \u2013 is part of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/world\/europe\/pope-francis-declares-evolution-and-big-bang-theory-are-right-and-god-isnt-a-magician-with-a-magic-9822514.html\">an increasing admission by the church that scientific theories were real and not necessarily in contradiction with theological doctrine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Pope Francis declared in 2014 for instance that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/world\/europe\/pope-francis-declares-evolution-and-big-bang-theory-are-right-and-god-isnt-a-magician-with-a-magic-9822514.html\">God is not &#8220;a magician with a magic wand&#8221; and that evolution and Big Bang theory are real<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Considering that the Vatican Observatory had a significant role in the genesis<sup>*<\/sup> of the Big Bang theory, this is very apropos.<\/p>\n<p><sup>*<\/sup><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">Pun not intended.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I mean of course the Pontiff.
