{"id":180965,"date":"2016-11-10T22:57:00","date_gmt":"2016-11-11T03:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2016\/11\/10\/this-may-be-my-best-writing-of-the-decade\/"},"modified":"2016-11-10T22:57:00","modified_gmt":"2016-11-11T03:57:00","slug":"this-may-be-my-best-writing-of-the-decade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2016\/11\/10\/this-may-be-my-best-writing-of-the-decade\/","title":{"rendered":"This May be My Best Writing of the Decade"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A participant at the <a href=\"http:\/\/stellarparthenon.org\/\">Stellar Parthenon BBS<\/a> was commiserating about how he had to buy health insurance, and it was all expensive and crappy coverage.<\/p>\n<p>He ruefully observed that&nbsp; his cheapest option (he&#8217;s a Jew) was to join &#8220;Medi-Share&#8221;, an evangelical Christian health co-op, but that would require him to, &#8220;Declare a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Somehow or other, my muse grabbed my hands, and this flowed from my fingers:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">You know, back in the day, Jesus and I went drinking and engaged in pig contests.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">The person who beds the ugliest babe wins.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">He never lost, and once he came 1st, 2nd, <b>AND<\/b> 3rd.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">Damn! That guy could work miracles with women.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">And he could make a Tequila Sunrise like no one&#8217;s business.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">Eventually though, he flunked out of school.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">Test problems, he got nailed on the boards.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I am so glad that (at least until January 21) I live in a nation where blasphemy is legal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A participant at the Stellar Parthenon BBS was commiserating about how he had to buy health insurance, and it was all expensive and crappy coverage.
