Chris Christie in the Bridgegate scandal.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">A Bergen County courtroom echoed with cheers after Judge Roy McGeady signed off Thursday on the criminal summons presented by retired smoke-eater William Brennan.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">Brennan and lawyers for the governor are due back in court Oct. 24 over Christie\u2019s alleged role in the vindictive George Washington Bridge lane closures.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">\u201cNow he\u2019s defendant Chris Christie,\u201d said Brennan, a former Teaneck firefighter. \u201cHe did exactly what is charged, and I have the evidence to prove it.\u201d<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">McGeady found probable cause to proceed on the complaint from Brennan, who claims Christie knew about the shutdown \u2014 and did nothing to reopen the bridge.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">\u2026\u2026\u2026<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">The criminal complaint described the politically motivated gridlock as an \u201cintentional evil-minded act taken by public officials acting on the authorities vested in them by the office of governor.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It&#8217;s not a surprise that it wasn&#8217;t a DA who did this:&nbsp; Chris Christie appoints them all.<\/p>\n<p>They work for him.<\/p>\n<p>Yet another thing that needs to be fixed in New Jersey government.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chris Christie finally has a criminal summons filed against him.
