{"id":181061,"date":"2016-10-13T19:21:00","date_gmt":"2016-10-14T00:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2016\/10\/13\/i-want-to-move-to-iceland\/"},"modified":"2016-10-13T19:21:00","modified_gmt":"2016-10-14T00:21:00","slug":"i-want-to-move-to-iceland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2016\/10\/13\/i-want-to-move-to-iceland\/","title":{"rendered":"I Want to Move to Iceland"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>And it has nothing to do with Bjork. <\/div>\n<p>It has everything to do with <a href=\"http:\/\/icelandmonitor.mbl.is\/news\/politics_and_society\/2016\/10\/06\/iceland_finds_all_guilty_in_banker_market_abuse_cas\/\">jailing banksters<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">Iceland\u2019s Supreme Court has return<span style=\"color: black;\">[ed]<\/span> a guilty verdict for all nine defendants in the Kaup\u00feing market manipulation case, the court trial for which began in April 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Back in June last year, the Reykjavik District Court <a href=\"http:\/\/icelandmonitor.mbl.is\/news\/news\/2015\/06\/26\/kaupthing_executives_jailed\/\">found seven of the nine defendants guilty, acquitting two<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>By fully financing share purchases with no other surety than the shares themselves, the bankers were accused of giving a false and misleading impression of demand for Kaup\u00feingi shares by means of deception and pretence.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court has now overturned the acquittals, finding Bj\u00f6rk \u00de\u00f3rarinsd\u00f3ttir (credit representative at Kaup\u00feing) and Magn\u00fas Gu\u00f0mundsson (former CEO of Kaupthing Luxembourg) also guilty alongside the other seven.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The rule of law:&nbsp; Iceland has it. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>And it has nothing to do with Bjork.
