Clinton confidant, likely selection for Secretary of Defense, and full time psychopath, Michele Flournoy has announced that she does not want to send ground troops into Syria, she just wants to drop bombs on children<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Former Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Mich\u00e8le Flournoy said Wednesday that she does not advocate sending U.S. ground troops to Syria to fight President Bashar al-Assad\u2019s forces.<\/p>\n

On Monday, Defense One<\/i>, the national security and defense news outlet<\/a> of Atlantic Media, reported that Flournoy<\/a> had \u201ccalled for \u2018limited military coercion\u2019 to help remove Assad from power in Syria, including a \u2018no bombing\u2019 zone over parts of Syria held by U.S.-backed rebels.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reporter Patrick Tucker interpreted those comments, which Flournoy made at a Center for New American Security conference, to mean that she \u201csaid she would direct U.S. troops to push President Bashar al-Assad\u2019s forces out of southern Syria and would send more American boots to fight the Islamic State in the region.\u201d<\/p>\n

After publication, Flournoy wrote a letter<\/a> to the editor of Defense One<\/i> denying that she advocates \u201cputting U.S. combat troops on the ground to take territory from Assad\u2019s forces or remove Assad from power.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tucker told The Intercept that Defense One<\/i> did not issue a correction because they felt they accurately reported Flournoy\u2019s policy position. \u201cStrike weapons at standoff distance is troops,\u201d said Tucker. \u201cThose are military personnel. That is U.S. military power \u2014 at war with the Assad regime. There is just no way around it.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cWe took a very inclusive use of the word \u2018troops,\u2019 one that matched the literal definition of \u2018troops,\u2019 but nowhere do we ever suggest or say \u2018ground troops.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Flournoy did not deny the entire report that she favors increased U.S. intervention; for instance, she acknowledged her support for U.S. \u201cstrikes using standoff weapons \u2014 to retaliate against Syrian military targets\u201d to enforce the no-bomb zone.<\/p>\n

Flournoy\u2019s stated foreign policy position would still increase U.S. involvement in the Syrian civil war beyond what President Obama and top military officials<\/a> have been willing to commit.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
