{"id":181784,"date":"2016-03-17T18:37:00","date_gmt":"2016-03-17T23:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2016\/03\/17\/credit-where-credit-is-due-this-police-chief-expects-his-deputies-to-do-their-fing-job\/"},"modified":"2016-03-17T18:37:00","modified_gmt":"2016-03-17T23:37:00","slug":"credit-where-credit-is-due-this-police-chief-expects-his-deputies-to-do-their-fing-job","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2016\/03\/17\/credit-where-credit-is-due-this-police-chief-expects-his-deputies-to-do-their-fing-job\/","title":{"rendered":"Credit Where Credit is Due:  This Police Chief Expects his Deputies to do their F%$#ing Job"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve all seen the video of the Trump supporter sucker punching a protester as he was being escorted out by deputies.<\/p>\n<p>Well, the police chief was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/post-nation\/wp\/2016\/03\/16\/deputies-suspended-following-failures-to-act-at-trump-rally-in-north-carolina\/\">not impressed with the lack of response of his deputies on the scene<\/a>, and he lowered the boom on them:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">Five sheriff\u2019s deputies in North Carolina have been suspended without pay following a Donald Trump rally where a protester was sucker-punched as he was being escorted out, the Cumberland County Sheriff\u2019s Office said Wednesday. <\/p>\n<p>Videos recorded at the March 9 rally in Fayetteville, N.C., showed a Trump supporter assaulting an anti-Trump protester, who was then detained by numerous uniformed men as his assailant walked away. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe actions of the deputies and their failures to act in situations such as that which occurred during the Trump rally at the Crown Coliseum have never been and will not ever be tolerated under the policies of this office,\u201d Sheriff Earl Butler <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/permalink.php?story_fbid=10153378267475952&amp;id=297216125951\">said in a statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026\u2026\u2026<\/p>\n<p>As Jones walked toward the exit, a man, who appeared to be white, emerged and punched him in the face. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoom, he caught me,\u201d Jones told The Post in a telephone interview. \u201cAfter I get it, before I could even gain my thoughts, I\u2019m on the ground getting escorted out.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>John Franklin McGraw, 78, was not detained at the time. He was charged the following day with assault and disorderly conduct. <\/p>\n<p>Jones <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wral.com\/5-cumberland-county-deputies-disciplined-in-connection-with-trump-rally\/15554135\/\">told NBC affiliate WRAL<\/a> that \u201cI thought I was being arrested\u201d by the deputies after being punched. \u201cI saw, later on, that [McGraw] went back to his seat so I am trying to figure out why was he able to go back to his seat,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>Three of the deputies have been demoted in rank and suspended for five days. The two others were suspended for three days. <\/p>\n<p>Butler said the deputies were being disciplined for \u201cunsatisfactory performance and failing to discharge the duties and policies\u201d of the department.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>What most of us saw was thuggish behavior by a Trump supporter.<\/p>\n<p>To his credit, what Sheriff Butler saw was police officers literally turning their backs to a crime that was committed right in front of them.<\/p>\n<p>He took names and kicked but.<\/p>\n<p>Good for him.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve all seen the video of the Trump supporter sucker punching a protester as he was being escorted out by deputies.
