{"id":181949,"date":"2016-02-01T23:52:00","date_gmt":"2016-02-02T04:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2016\/02\/01\/iowa-caucuses\/"},"modified":"2016-02-01T23:52:00","modified_gmt":"2016-02-02T04:52:00","slug":"iowa-caucuses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2016\/02\/01\/iowa-caucuses\/","title":{"rendered":"Iowa Caucuses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>And tomorrow is Groundhog day, so expect the same crap from the pundits, day, after day, after day, after day<\/p>\n<p>In terms of the actual numbers, as of 11:50 PM EST, with 98% of Republican caucuses reporting, a Ted Cruz has won the Republican caucuses, with Trump second, and Rubio a fairly close third.<\/p>\n<p>Clearly, Rubio is not the (lame and not particularly intelligent) great white hope of the Republican establishment.<\/p>\n<p>With 94% of Democratic caucuses reporting, it looks like the delegate talley will be pretty close, as Hillary Clintonhas 49.9%&nbsp; and&nbsp; has Bernie Sanders 49.6%, with O&#8217;Malley at \u00bd%.<\/p>\n<p>The race has not been called, and there are reports that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/live\/iowa-caucus-2016-election\/in-concession-speech-omalley-says-hes-not-ending-this-fight\/\">O&#8217;Malley has dropped out of the race<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Democratic caucus results seems to indicate that very little bit has been settled.<\/p>\n<p>I would guess that the results will be the same in the morning, but given that the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/tech\/news\/2016\/02\/01\/microsoft-app-used-tally-votes-iowa-caucus-fails-some-areas\/79674064\/\">reporting software is written by Microsoft<\/a>, I would wait about 48 hours for the final count.<sup>*<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>Ongoing results <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/elections\/2016\/primaries\/iowa\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><sup>*<\/sup><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">I am not suggesting fraud here, I am suggesting incompetence and poor execution, kind of like Windows Vista, Windows 8, Office 2007, and Microsoft Bob.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>And tomorrow is Groundhog day, so expect the same crap from the pundits, day, after day, after day, after day In terms of the actual numbers, as of 11:50 PM EST, with 98% of Republican caucuses reporting, a Ted Cruz has won the Republican caucuses, with Trump second, and Rubio a fairly close third.
