{"id":181960,"date":"2016-01-30T20:17:00","date_gmt":"2016-01-31T01:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2016\/01\/30\/hillary-clinton-is-scared-and-debbie-wasserman-schultz-loses\/"},"modified":"2016-01-30T20:17:00","modified_gmt":"2016-01-31T01:17:00","slug":"hillary-clinton-is-scared-and-debbie-wasserman-schultz-loses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2016\/01\/30\/hillary-clinton-is-scared-and-debbie-wasserman-schultz-loses\/","title":{"rendered":"Hillary Clinton is Scared, and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz Loses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It appears that the DNC is reversing itself, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/politics\/first-draft\/2016\/01\/30\/tentative-agreement-reached-for-more-democratic-debates-aides-say\/\">there will be more debates<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">After days of jostling over whether to meet for more debates, and how many, aides to Hillary Clinton and Senator Bernie Sanders have reached an agreement, of sorts, they said Saturday: The two will meet next week in New Hampshire and will hold three more debates thereafter.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span> <span style=\"color: blue;\">A Clinton aide, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss continuing negotiations, confirmed the tentative agreement for four additional debates, which was first reported by BuzzFeed.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span> <span style=\"color: blue;\">The two campaigns have engaged in a measure of brinkmanship in recent days, with Mr. Sanders\u2019s team one-upping Mrs. Clinton\u2019s by saying it would agree to an additional debate in New Hampshire if her team agreed to more beyond that.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span> <span style=\"color: blue;\">Michael Briggs, a Sanders spokesman, said the agreement was still being discussed. \u201cI\u2019m optimistic,\u201d he said, but he added, \u201cThe details are still being worked out.\u201d<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span> <span style=\"color: blue;\">The Democratic National Committee has yet to weigh in on whether it would sanction the added debates.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span> <span style=\"color: blue;\">The New Hampshire debate next week was originally scheduled as an unsanctioned one, sponsored by MSNBC and the New Hampshire Union Leader newspaper. But a Democratic National Committee official said The Union Leader would not be a sponsor.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span> <span style=\"color: blue;\">Still, it would mean a highly watched showdown between Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Sanders before the Feb. 9 primary in New Hampshire.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span> <span style=\"color: blue;\">After working in 2015 to restrict the number of debates, Mrs. Clinton\u2019s team has since expressed regret about that as Mr. Sanders surged in the polls, especially because she has generally delivered strong performances in the debates.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know who wins in this arrangement.<\/p>\n<p>Clinton is clearly more comfortable debating, but the more that people see of Sanders, the more that they like him.
