{"id":182023,"date":"2016-01-16T19:08:00","date_gmt":"2016-01-17T00:08:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2016\/01\/16\/oh-snap-35\/"},"modified":"2016-01-16T19:08:00","modified_gmt":"2016-01-17T00:08:00","slug":"oh-snap-35","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2016\/01\/16\/oh-snap-35\/","title":{"rendered":"Oh, Snap!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"border: 1px solid black; float: right; margin: 0px 10px; padding: 5px; text-align: center; width: 310px;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"169\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Hb_TFjYfcyQ\" width=\"300\"><\/iframe><br \/><i>Roll Tape!<\/i><\/div>\n<p>One of the issues that seems to be giving the Bernie Sanders campaign its legs is the perception that Hillary Clinton is too close to the Banksters on Wall Street.<\/p>\n<p>This 2007 video of <a href=\"http:\/\/usuncut.com\/politics\/video-surfaces-of-hillary-clinton-blaming-homeowners-for-financial-crisis\/\">Hillary Clinton giving a speech before banksters blaming ordinary people for the mortgage crisis<\/a> is not going to help her campaign:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">When Clinton ran for president during her second term as New York\u2019s U.S. Senator, she gave a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.presidency.ucsb.edu\/ws\/index.php?pid=77081\">tepid speech<\/a> at the NASDAQ headquarters on December 5, 2007 \u2014 before the financial crisis reached a boiling point \u2014 about reforming Wall Street\u2019s housing loan practices, largely excusing financial criminals for their behavior. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow these economic problems are certainly not all Wall Street\u2019s fault \u2013 not by a long shot,\u201d Clinton said early in the speech. <\/p>\n<p>Clinton\u2019s NASDAQ address amounted to essentially asking the financiers assembled to take voluntary action or else she would \u201cconsider legislation\u201d to stop banks from kicking families out of their homes. But early on in the speech, Clinton placed equal blame for the subprime mortgage crisis on low-income homeowners alongside Wall Street. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHomebuyers who paid extra fees to avoid documenting their income should have known they were getting in over their heads,\u201d Clinton said. <\/p>\n<p>One YouTube user found video of the statement and put it side-by-side with her claim at the first Democratic debate in which she said she went to Wall Street before the crisis and told them to \u201ccut it out.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This sort of crap is like death to her campaing, because it plays into her greatest weakness, a perceived lack of authenticity.<\/p>\n<p>She is firmly in the Bob Rubin, Larry Summers, Timothy Geithner,&nbsp; Barack Obama wing of the Democratic Party.<\/p>\n<p>Trying to pretend that she is more of a populist than Bernie Sanders is laughable.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Roll Tape!
