{"id":182038,"date":"2016-01-12T20:37:00","date_gmt":"2016-01-13T01:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2016\/01\/12\/i-did-not-expect-this-6\/"},"modified":"2016-01-12T20:37:00","modified_gmt":"2016-01-13T01:37:00","slug":"i-did-not-expect-this-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2016\/01\/12\/i-did-not-expect-this-6\/","title":{"rendered":"I Did Not Expect This"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It appears that the Bernie Sanders campaign <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/articles\/2016\/01\/11\/bernie-sanders-s-millions-raised-sans-money-men.html\">employs no fund raising staff<\/a>, Hillary Clinton, in contrast, has over 30 dedicated full time staffers working this:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">It\u2019s no secret that Bernie Sanders is raising tons of money, but that fact that he\u2019s doing it without a finance team is highly unusual.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">Bernie Sanders loves to talk about the fact that he doesn\u2019t have a super-PAC backing his campaign. But the true state of his fundraising strategy is even more astonishing than that: The Sanders campaign doesn\u2019t have a finance team.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">And that\u2019s a big deal.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">Every competitive presidential campaign in recent election cycles has had team of people exclusively dedicated to finances: figuring out how much money the campaign needs, putting together a plan to get that money, and then making it all come together.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">It\u2019s considered a fundamental part of a modern presidential campaign, right up there with having a team to deal with the press.
