I can think of no stronger indicator for the Apocalypse than the fact that, for the 2nd<\/sup> time in as many months, Donald Trump has seized the moral high ground<\/a>.<\/div>\n

Of course, this is an extremely low bar, as the competition is Pamela Geller:<\/p>\n

Donald Trump was asked on \u201cFox & Friends\u201d this morning for his opinion on the shooting outside Pam Geller\u2019s \u201cDraw the Prophet\u201d contest<\/a>, and he didn\u2019t mince his words. <\/p>\n

Brian Kilmeade asked whether he still believed \u201cin freedom of speech, regardless of what they\u2019re talking about \u2014 you\u2019ve got to think they could do without being shot, don\u2019t you think?\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump replied that it\u2019s \u201cvery terrible,\u201d but was heartened that the police acted \u201cvery strongly\u201d by killing the two suspects. After blaming the \u201cweak action\u201d of the Baltimore police for the destruction of \u201cover 200 businesses in a single night,\u201d he praised the Garland, Texas police for their handling of these shooters.<\/p>\n

However, he quickly switched subjects, saying that \u201cI watched Pam [Geller on Fox News] earlier, and it really looks like she\u2019s just taunting everybody. What is she doing drawing Muhammad? I mean it\u2019s disgusting,\u201d he said in reference to the attempted shootings. \u201cIsn\u2019t there something else they could be doing? Drawing Muhammad?\u201d he went on.<\/p>\n

Elisabeth Hasselbeck cut in to say that they\u2019d asked Geller whether there wasn\u2019t some other way they could have exercised their freedom of speech besides this contest, and Geller told her \u201cNo, there wasn\u2019t another way, because you have to fight back against this war against the freedom of speech.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump replied by again asking, \u201cThey can\u2019t do something else? They have have to be in the middle of Texas doing something on Muhammad and insulting everybody?\u201d <\/span> <\/p>\n

He reiterated his disgust at the attempted shooting, as well as his belief that Geller is taunting Islamic extremists. \u201cWhat is she doing?\u201d he asked. \u201cWhy is she doing it? It\u2019s probably very risky for her \u2014 I don\u2019t know, maybe she likes risk?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut what the hell is she doing?\u201d he concluded.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So in April, he shamed most of the Republican Presidential candidates over Social Security and Medicare<\/a>, and now, this.<\/p>\n

I do not mean to imply that “The Donald” is meaningful ethics, but rather that the morality of the right wing has descended below his level.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
