{"id":183284,"date":"2015-01-06T20:24:00","date_gmt":"2015-01-07T01:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2015\/01\/06\/yeah-nothing-suspicious-here\/"},"modified":"2015-01-06T20:24:00","modified_gmt":"2015-01-07T01:24:00","slug":"yeah-nothing-suspicious-here","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2015\/01\/06\/yeah-nothing-suspicious-here\/","title":{"rendered":"Yeah, Nothing Suspicious Here"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A grand juror for the Michael Brown shooting investigation is <a href=\"http:\/\/news.stlpublicradio.org\/post\/grand-juror-sues-mcculloch-says-he-mischaracterized-wilson-case\">suing St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch so that he can talk about the grand jury proceedings<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The juror claims the the prosecutor lied about what happened in the grand jury, and wants to be allowed to refute his statements:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">A grand juror is suing St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch in an effort to speak out on what happened in the Darren Wilson case. Under typical circumstances, grand jurors are prohibited by law from discussing cases they were involved in.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span> <span style=\"color: blue;\">The grand juror, referred to only as &#8220;Grand Juror Doe&#8221; in the lawsuit, takes issue with how McCulloch characterized the case. McCulloch released evidence presented to the grand jury and publicly discussed the case after the grand jury decided not to indict Wilson, then a Ferguson police officer, in the shooting death of Michael Brown, an 18-year-old African American.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span> <span style=\"color: blue;\">\u201cIn [the grand juror]\u2019s view, the current information available about the grand jurors\u2019 views is not entirely accurate \u2014 especially the implication that all grand jurors believed that there was no support for any charges,\u201d the lawsuit says. (A grand jury&#8217;s decision does not have to be unanimous.)<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span> <span style=\"color: blue;\">\u201cMoreover, the public characterization of the grand jurors\u2019 view of witnesses and evidence does not accord with [Doe]\u2019s own,\u201d the lawsuit continued. \u201cFrom [the grand juror]\u2019s perspective, the investigation of Wilson had a stronger focus on the victim than in other cases presented to the grand jury.\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/news.stlpublicradio.org\/post\/grand-jury-wrangled-confusing-instructions\">Doe also believes the legal standards were conveyed in a \u201cmuddled\u201d and \u201cuntimely\u201d manner to the grand jury.<\/a><\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span> <span style=\"color: blue;\">In the lawsuit filed Monday in federal court, the American Civil Liberties Union of Missouri argues that this case is unique and that the usual reasons for requiring the jurors to maintain secrecy should not apply.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This is a special case.<\/p>\n<p>The juror is arguing&nbsp; that there was deliberate prosecutorial misconduct, and that they should be allowed to publicly air these concerns.<\/p>\n<p>I agree.<\/p>\n<p>It is clear that McCulloch deliberately threw the case, and if this evidence is becomes, perhaps it might lead to the appointment of a special prosecutor, or the DoJ looking at the shenanigans at the St. Louis County Prosecutor&#8217;s office.<\/p>\n<p>Naaah \u2026\u2026\u2026 I&#8217;m just kidding.<\/p>\n<p>Silly rabbit, black lives do not matter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A grand juror for the Michael Brown shooting investigation is suing St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch so that he can talk about the grand jury proceedings.
