Here\u2019s the thing. When we talk about race relations in America or racial progress, it\u2019s all nonsense. There are no race relations. White people were crazy. Now they\u2019re not as crazy. To say that black people have made progress would be to say they deserve what happened to them before.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">\u2026\u2026\u2026<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">So, to say Obama is progress is saying that he\u2019s the first black person that is qualified to be president. That\u2019s not black progress. That\u2019s white progress. There\u2019s been black people qualified to be president for hundreds of years. If you saw Tina Turner and Ike having a lovely breakfast over there, would you say their relationship\u2019s improved? Some people would. But a smart person would go, \u201cOh, he stopped punching her in the face.\u201d It\u2019s not up to her. Ike and Tina Turner\u2019s relationship has nothing to do with Tina Turner. Nothing. It just doesn\u2019t. The question is, you know, my kids are smart, educated, beautiful, polite children. There have been smart, educated, beautiful, polite black children for hundreds of years. The advantage that my children have is that my children are encountering the nicest white people that America has ever produced. Let\u2019s hope America keeps producing nicer white people.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He&#8217;s right.<\/p>\n<p>What we call racial progress is a really a reduction (<b>NOT<\/b> an elimination) of the &#8220;crazy&#8221; of white America.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>He has said something on the issue of race that is both profound and a truly original framing: Yes, that would be an event.
