href=\"http:\/\/www.rawstory.com\/rs\/2014\/11\/st-louis-rams-come-onto-field-displaying-hands-up-dont-shoot-in-support-of-ferguson\/\">walked out onto the field with their hands up, using the gesture made famous by the Ferguson protesters<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">Members of the NFL\u2019s St. Louis Rams came onto their home field on Sunday posing with the \u2018hands up, don\u2019t shoot\u2019 gesture associated with the shooting of teenager Michael Brown by police officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Missouri.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span> <span style=\"color: blue;\">The gesture has become part of a movement designed to draw attention to the spate of shootings of young African-American men by police officers across the country.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span> <span style=\"color: blue;\">As player introductions began at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, five players \u2014 Stedman Bailey, Tavon Austin, Jared Cook, Chris Givens, and Kenny Britt \u2014 came out onto the field first, to the applause of the crowd, before being joined by their teammates.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Rather unsurprisingly, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rawstory.com\/rs\/2014\/11\/st-louis-police-officers-group-demands-rams-players-be-disciplined-for-hands-up-dont-shoot\/\">police officer&#8217;s union is calling for disciplinary measures to be taken against these players<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">Reacting to five members of the St. Louis Rams coming onto the field for Sunday\u2019s game displaying the \u2018hands up, don\u2019t shoot\u2019 gesture, a St. Louis police officers fraternal organization is demanding the team discipline the players, and that the team and league issue a formal apology, reports KSDK.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span> <span style=\"color: blue;\">In a statement released Sunday evening, the St. Louis Police Officers Association condemned the display, calling it \u201ctasteless, offensive and inflammatory.\u201d<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span> <span style=\"color: blue;\">Prior to player introductions before Sunday\u2019s game, five players \u2014 Stedman Bailey, Tavon Austin, Jared Cook, Chris Givens, and Kenny Britt \u2014 came out onto the field first with their hands in the air prior to being joined by their teammates.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Notwithstanding some puffery from the union about the 1<sup>st<\/sup> amendment, it&#8217;s clear that the St. Louis Police Officers Association has no concept of civil rights.<\/p>\n<p>Or, to put it another way, &#8220;Why does the St. Louis Police Officers Association hate
