{"id":183727,"date":"2012-12-08T21:16:00","date_gmt":"2012-12-09T02:16:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2012\/12\/08\/i-cant-fing-believe-that-i-said-that-to-my-daughter\/"},"modified":"2012-12-08T21:16:00","modified_gmt":"2012-12-09T02:16:00","slug":"i-cant-fing-believe-that-i-said-that-to-my-daughter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2012\/12\/08\/i-cant-fing-believe-that-i-said-that-to-my-daughter\/","title":{"rendered":"I Can&#8217;t F%$#ing Believe that I Said That to My Daughter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It happened twice in a 24 hour period. <\/p>\n<p>In the 2<sup>nd<\/sup>, and somewhat <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">less<\/span>  alarming case, I was driving Natalie to an outing at the mall with her  friends, and she needed some money, and I knew that she had money in her  cash account, but I was not sure that I needed to go to an ATM, so I  handed her my wallet, and asked her to count the cash in it. <\/p>\n<p>And then it hit me, I <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">just asked my teenage daughter to go through my wallet and count my cash<\/span>. <\/p>\n<p>Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?  I <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">handed<\/span> my daughter my wallet, and I told her to count my money?!?!? <\/p>\n<p>In the 1<sup>st<\/sup> instance, we were talking about relationships, and boys, and  texting, and we were talking about how some of the kids in her school  were making &#8220;impolitic&#8221; posts to their significant others. <\/p>\n<p>I was trying to impress upon her that &#8220;sexting&#8221; was a <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">really<\/span> bad idea, because you never know when pictures like this will end up. <\/p>\n<p>I ended my comments with the statement that, &#8220;If she wants to show her  breasts to a boyfriend, she should do it in person, and not with a cell phone picture.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>And she looked at me. <\/p>\n<p>And my wife looked at me. <\/p>\n<p>And my son looked at me. <\/p>\n<p>And I realized what I said, and, as a result, I probably looked like a <b>cow that had just stepped on its own udder<\/b>. <\/p>\n<p>I am <b>so<\/b> not going to get a trophy for parent of the year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It happened twice in a 24 hour period.
