Nearly six years after he pleaded guilty in the Jack Abramoff scandal, a former aide to House Majority Leader Tom DeLay will likely be sentenced in the near future. But because of a joint motion granted by the federal judge hearing the case against Tony Rudy, the public wouldn\u2019t see the filing listing agreed upon facts in the case.<\/p>\n
The reason? National security.<\/p>\n
The feds and Rudy\u2019s defense team wrote that the disclosure of \u201csensitive information related to national security matters\u201d likely \u201cwould compromise and negatively impact ongoing intelligence efforts.\u201d They said the sensitive information had \u201cno relationship to the Department of Justice\u2019s investigation of Jack Abramoff or related persons.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The folks at TPM got a comment from Abramoff about this, and he was pretty stunned by this.<\/p>\n
