{"id":184606,"date":"2012-03-07T21:27:00","date_gmt":"2012-03-08T02:27:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2012\/03\/07\/good-news-from-the-ohio-primary\/"},"modified":"2012-03-07T21:27:00","modified_gmt":"2012-03-08T02:27:00","slug":"good-news-from-the-ohio-primary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2012\/03\/07\/good-news-from-the-ohio-primary\/","title":{"rendered":"Good News from the Ohio Primary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jean &#8220;Mean Jean&#8221; Schmidt <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/blogs\/the-fix\/post\/super-tuesdays-winners-and-losers\/2012\/03\/07\/gIQA9b80vR_blog.html\">lost the Republican primary for Ohio&#8217;s 2<sup>nd<\/sup> CD<\/a> to political newbie Brad Wenstrup.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a good thing, though she lost to someone who appears to be even <b>more<\/b> conservative.<\/p>\n<p>The interesting thing is that a new super Pac, the Campaign for Primary Accountability, which dropped a significant chunk of change against her, mostly taking her to task for voting to increase the debt ceiling.<\/p>\n<p>This same group also supported Kucinich against Kaptur, and is going after Jesse Jackson Jr. in Illinois, as well as Spencer &#8220;Insider Trading&#8221; Baucus (R-AL).<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m inclined to think that they are a beard for right wingers.  Both Kucinich and Kaptur are firmly liberal, but Kaptur was the more effective legislator, if just because Kucinich was so determinedly iconoclastic, and the wing-nuts hate anyone named Jesse Jackson.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, its founder, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Eric_O%27Keefe_%28political_activist%29\">Eric O&#8217;Keefe<\/a> is a winger and a Club for Growth puke, which further reiforces my suspicions.<\/p>\n<p>The post <i>Citizens United<\/i> world of campaign finance is remarkably opaque.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jean &#8220;Mean Jean&#8221; Schmidt lost the Republican primary for Ohio&#8217;s 2nd CD to political newbie Brad Wenstrup.
