{"id":184927,"date":"2011-12-08T19:26:00","date_gmt":"2011-12-09T00:26:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2011\/12\/08\/i-was-wrong-i-apologize\/"},"modified":"2011-12-08T19:26:00","modified_gmt":"2011-12-09T00:26:00","slug":"i-was-wrong-i-apologize","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2011\/12\/08\/i-was-wrong-i-apologize\/","title":{"rendered":"I Was Wrong, I Apologize"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For those of you have followed my blog for a while, I started it in May of 2007, I have been <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/custom?domains=40yrs.blogspot.com&amp;q=%22reserve+currency%22&amp;sitesearch=40yrs.blogspot.com&amp;sa=Google+Search&amp;client=pub-5705342386601848&amp;forid=1&amp;ie=ISO-8859-1&amp;oe=ISO-8859-1&amp;cof=GALT%3A%23008000%3BGL%3A1%3BDIV%3A%23336699%3BVLC%3A663399%3BAH%3Acenter%3BBGC%3AFFFFFF%3BLBGC%3A336699%3BALC%3A0000FF%3BLC%3A0000FF%3BT%3A000000%3BGFNT%3A0000FF%3BGIMP%3A0000FF%3BFORID%3A1&amp;hl=en\">suggesting that the Euro was likely to supplant the US as the world&#8217;s reserve currency<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Well, I missed a couple of things:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The fact that the Euro was drawn up by a bunch of neoliberal (which means conservative) economists who has been railing against regulation and the welfare state, which, as the past few years have shown to be an unmitigated disaster.<\/li>\n<li>That the Germans, would be \u2026 well \u2026 Germans.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Now, I&#8217;m inclined to believe that, absent a German exit from the Euro, that the unified currency is doomed, and the EU may be as well.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike my hairier brother,<sup>*<\/sup> I do not think that <a href=\"http:\/\/40yrs.blogspot.com\/2011\/10\/and-banksters-look-to-occupy-greece.html\">another war in Europe is inevitable<\/a>, though I think that an EU breakup has a potential of leading to some shooting, or, more likely, some sort of a &#8220;Cold Peace.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><sup>*<\/sup><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">The Indians call him &#8220;Carpet who walks&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For those of you have followed my blog for a while, I started it in May of 2007, I have been suggesting that the Euro was likely to supplant the US as the world&#8217;s reserve currency.
